  1. To tie a Windsor knot, start by flipping up your collars and placing the necktie around your neck. The double Windsor knot is a larger tie knot and it will require more of the tie’s length. For that reason make sure to leave the wide part of the necktie hanging much lower than the narrow end.
  2. Place the wide end of the tie over the narrow end, and pull it behind, and then back over the part of the necktie coming from your collar. Then pull the wide part of the necktie back behind the narrow end as show by the red arrow in picture #2. Tip: Hold the narrow end with one hand slightly tight. This will help you to keep the half finished necktie knot in place and slightly tightened.
  3. Now do the same thing on the other side of the necktie. Doing this will create the popular symmetrical look of the Double Windsor knot.
  4. Now pull the wide end of the necktie over the narrow end and create a loop. Hold the top open with one hand while holding the half finished double Windsor knot in place.
  5. Pull the wide end of the necktie through the loop.
  6. Tighten the double Windsor knot, flip down the collars, and adjust the double Windsor knot so that the knot lies centered between the collars.
